Register Statistics
Here’s what happened with the membership in 2025.
We gained 98 new members last year and our membership is now just under 1600. (More on this in a moment.) There are more new-to-NAMGAR cars now too with 9,545 cars in the database. Remember that nearly half of the cars aren’t registered to anyone, so don’t think that most members have a half-dozen cars. These orphan cars come from a car getting sold and the new owner declines to join NAMGAR, or a car gets parted out and we don’t get told about it. On the other hand, there are 105 members that don’t have a Magnette or MGA.
Here’s how the membership and cars were distributed on January 1, 2026:

| Country | Members | Cars |
| Australia | 6 | 10 |
| Denmark | 1 | 1 |
| Finland | 1 | 1 |
| Mexico | 1 | 1 |
| Netherlands | 2 | 2 |
| New Zealand | 1 | 1 |
| Norway | 1 | 1 |
| Romania | 1 | 1 |
| Spain | 1 | 1 |
| Switzerland | 1 | 1 |
| United Kingdom | 2 | 2 |
| TOTALS | 18 | 22 |
| Popular Colors | Count | Percentage |
| Red | 2,925 | 31% |
| White | 1,817 | 19% |
| Black | 974 | 10% |
| Blue | 902 | 9% |
| Green | 701 | 7% |
This includes any sort of red, for example, and not just the factory reds. MGAs are always far and away the model we have the most of (9,145), but there are also 276 Magnettes and 29 variants, like Elvas and Devins. Some of the cars don’t have enough information to include here – we aren’t real sure what model they are.
One interesting statistic concerns our renewals. While 90% of new membership applications are done on the NAMGAR website, only 60% of our renewals are done online. That works out to almost 500 people a year mailing in their renewals. I’m not complaining – I like reading the mail – but it does seem odd.
And speaking of renewals, let’s get back to the membership numbers. Last year at this time we had slightly less than 1700 members. So how can we be down about a hundred even though we gained a hundred? Because in 2025 we lost 229 members – a record loss. The average for the past 15 years is that annually we gain 125 members but lose 166, leaving us with about 600 fewer members now than we had in 2010.
So what happened? Some people sell their car, some pass away, and some just forget to renew, but for most we don’t know why they dropped out. What should we do about this? That’s where you come in. I’m looking for suggestions on how we can stem this loss. For example, should we send out a questionnaire to members that have lapsed and ask them why they left and if there’s anything we can do to change that? Do we need a larger online presence? Should we run an advertising campaign to try and recruit people? If you have any ideas or suggestions I’d like to hear from you at Registrar@namgar.com.
Along with all this, please remember to check your NAMGAR membership profile to make sure it’s up-to-date. This includes your mailing and email addresses, accurate information about your car(s), your local club, and everything else. Go to the Member Profile/Login page from the website’s Membership tab, log in, and review your profile. If you need to make changes, use the Update Membership Information button, write up your changes, and click Submit. Any questions or problems? Send me a note at Registrar@namgar.com and we’ll sort it out.
Thanks for reading! I hope to hear from many of you.
