Here we intend to expand on Bruce’s announcement, and this should be of particular interest to NAMGAR members intending to show their car at GT-37 in Dayton, Ohio, in July.

Regular production class designations will continue to be based on the series of car presented – MGA 1500, 1600, Mk II, Magnette, etc. Cars in these classes are expected to retain their original engine or equivalent, OR may be fitted with an 1800cc engine from an MGB. Cars fitted with a super-charger, a cross-flow head, a 5-speed gearbox, or an overdrive MGB gearbox are all acceptable. Similarly, a 1500 fitted with disc brakes or MGB front suspension components, would remain in the 1500 class.

However, if an MGA has a Mazda Miata, Buick V6, or other non-B series engine, it must show in the “Altered A” class.

If a member still has some doubt whether his or her car should be in a regular (stock) class, or should be in the “Altered A” class, they can contact NAMGAR’s Vice Chairman, for guidance.

As in the past, a winner in the “Altered A” Class will not progress to Premier Class in future shows.

[30

post-43252","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-namgar-news
["GET
