I know I have and discovered a couple of bugs in one or two of my MGAs. When I took out my 1960 MGA everything seemed fine and then there was a faint smell of oil. Following my first impression I quickly headed back home. Upon pulling into the driveway I couldn’t help but notice a trail of oil leaving the driveway and another returning home. After a bit of evaluation, a leaky oil cooler hose was discovered. Easy fix. With a new hose in place, I was back on the road.

Next up was my wife Kerry’s MGA which we drove out to GT-49 in Welches, Oregon from Chicago. Around 200 miles from home the head gasket blew out on the number 4 cylinder. So, a rebuild was the order of the day. When finished, she sat for the rest of the year due to other projects. When I went to drive her, the brakes didn’t want to release. I was thinking bad hoses. But wait, I remembered installing new ones last year. Turned out to be a little rust on the rotors. A couple trips around the block doing some hard braking cured the problem.

Well, enough of my woes, hope you have your MGA on the road in anticipation of an awesome road trip to Sandusky for the MG International! I’m very excited to see all my old friends and making many more new ones there. It’s adding up to be quite the gathering of MGs from very early MGs to the last one to roll out of Abingdon. Make your reservations now if you haven’t already because you’re not going to want to miss this one. When you see me there, please introduce yourselves to me as I’m kind of the new kid on the block.

I’d like to take a moment now to thank those who are reaching out to other MGA owners that are not NAMGAR members. I have actually been able to have two of my friends join, which to my surprise I thought they were members all along. So, share the good word about the benefits of becoming a NAMGAR member. Also, thanks to a few members that reached out to me concerning possibly hosting a GT or area regional. It’s very refreshing to see the enthusiasm of members who want to get involved. Please don’t hesitate to contact me at Vicechairman@NAMGAR.com if you would like information on these.

That’s all I’ve got for now.
