Straight Talk from the “Mann” Cave

It is with great sadness that I share with all our members that long time member, past chairman, twice editor, and Mac Spears Founder’s Award winner, Steve Mazurek, age75 passed away peacefully in his home on November 2, 2024. NAMGAR and all its members owe a great deal of thanks to all that the Mazurek’s have done for our register over the years. Steve is survived by his lovely wife Diane who resides in Illinois. Please reach out to Diane during these difficult times.
Happy New Year! Wow what a busy time, lots of things happening with the North American MGA Register. We have added a few new positions to the NAMGAR staff to assist with the many chores that need attention as well as preparing the register for the future.
Mr. Reid Trummel has volunteered to take over the position of editor of MGA! Magazine. Reid is a talented editor and is President of Columbia Gorge Chapter of NAMGAR, in Portland Oregon. Reid is also the Editor for other classic automotive magazines.
Mr. Keith Lowman of Illinois has volunteered to be the new copy editor of MGA! magazine replacing Diane Mazurek. Keith has been a long-time member of NAMGAR since 1981.
Ms. Theresa Gaffney of the Peachtree MG Registry in Georgia has volunteered to fill our newly created position of Document Control Coordinator. This function previously resided within the copyeditors function. We opted to split the functions apart, as we need to keep up with changes that occur with staff, our events, bylaws and overall operating guidelines of the register. Effective timing and good document control is required to manage the register.
Mr. Moose Stovall of the Texas Register has volunteered to take one of our open positions as staff at large. This position was created to allow for succession planning required to fill open positions as they become available in time. Assignments will be made as required over time.
Mr. Bob Vitrikas has volunteered to take on the role of supporting technical articles vacated by Dave Smith, who asked to be retired due to difficulties caused by illness. Bob will be writing and assisting Bob Shafto our Tech Editor with tech articles.
We are very grateful to have these people step up and fill these positions today and prepare for the future. I am happy to report that all our current board and staff positions are fully staffed.
We have also made a significant change to a more hybrid type of magazine. We will continue with Synder Printing, who will print and distribute the magazine, and outsource the publishing to a well-known publisher, Mr. Charles (Chaz) de Bourbon, and the editing will be done by editor Reid Trummel. We believe this to be the footprint of the future, only time will tell.
In our next issue we will discuss our final status relative to the North American Council of MG registers.
Please continue to support MGA! with articles and pictures of your beautiful MGAs. We need lots of pictures, regardless of condition, to place on our cover and in our centerfolds. The magazine is all about MGAs and the people who drive them.

The road to success is always under construction
