I am Diane Mazurek, the Copyeditor for MGA!.

Steven and I bought our first MGA, a white 1960 1600, in July 1976, one month after attending GT-1 in Harper’s Ferry, West Virginia. There’s a nice photo of her in Automobile Quarterly, Volume 17, Number 1 on page 36. A short year later I bought our current black 1959 1500, although she looked much different then. She was yellow, with shag carpeting and a roll bar, and in miserable condition. We so desperately wanted to restore an “A,” that we didn’t think about the time (or money) commitment at all. We completed a frame-up restoration in time for GT-21.

Steven and I were part of the first NAMGAR Chapter that was formed at GT-1 to host GT-1-1/2 in Greenfield Village, Michigan in September of 1976. When we moved to Ohio in 1977, we founded the Ohio Chapter and hosted several regional Buckeye GTs. After moving back to Michigan in 1980, we were the GT Coordinators (before the Vice Chairman had that responsibility) for NAMGAR. When Steven became NAMGAR’s Chairman in 1983, I continued as Events Coordinator but also helped him computerize the NAMGAR records and establish the NAMGAR Board. I was the scribe for those early Board meetings which were held in our home. For GT-25 we wrote an article about our MGAdventures and created a website which we still update: http://adventures.blackmga.com/ At GT-25 we were honored with the Mac Spears Founder’s Award.

I have a BS in Physical Sciences from Michigan State University. I am currently retired but had been a Project and Program Manager for over twenty years and a Technical Writer for over thirty years, with a smattering of paralegal work in the Telecommunications field (you know, Ma Bell). I earned a Certificate in Technical Communications from the College of Lake County, Illinois where one of my website designs won a special award, and recently earned a Digital Technical Writing Badge from Harper College, Palatine, Illinois.

I contacted Hal Roeth in January 2000 to volunteer as the Copy Editor for MGA!. I also assumed NAMGAR documentation responsibilities. I stayed in that position until mid-2011.

In my spare time I love traveling with Steven and PRNCZ, our 1959 1500. I also enjoy reading, especially biographies and historical novels, playing my beautiful grand piano and traveling the world with Steven. My current projects are writing my memoirs and creating an family e-album.

MGA! is a very special publication. With my writing experiences, NAMGAR history, and MGA Pit Crew experience, I am proud to contribute to its production and success, as well as to NAMGAR’s.
