Central Virginia British Car Club
Website
The Central Virginia British Car Club marked its 25th anniversary in 2009 having been organized in June of 2004 as Central Virginia MG Classics, Ltd. In 1999, the club name changed and expanded membership beyond MGs. Today, owners of all British marques are welcome and the club has grown to approximately 200 members hailing from throughout the state’s capital region along with much of the rest of Virginia, and a few in other states. The club’s purpose as defined in the by-laws is that “The Club shall be dedicated to the restoration, preservation, and family enjoyment of the classic British motorcar and motorcycle.” Activities and events during the course of the year include monthly meetings, technical sessions, social events, driving events, participation in car shows, display of British vehicles at heritage events celebrating the British Isles, and advocacy for the collector car hobby. The highlight of every year is our annual European car show, “Classics on the James”. The year 2009 was also the 25th year for COTJ, formerly, “Richmond British Car Day.” COTJ has become one of the primary destination shows on the east coast for European automobile enthusiasts. Club founder and first president Fred Emig is still an active member.
Meetings are usually held on the third Wednesday of every month at member’s homes.
