MG Car Club UK – MGA Register Spring Weekend
Are you planning a trip the the UK in May 2012? Why not join the MG Car Club’s MGA Register’s Spring Weekend to be held from Friday, May 18th to Monday, 21st May, 2012 in Cymru, Wales. If you are considering joining the group, don’t leave it too late.
For 2012 we shall be crossing the country into the Principality of Cymru – Wales that is. 60 rooms have been reserved at the Metropole Hotel in Llandrindod Wells. The MGCC T-Register has used the Metropole for a similar event to ours and this hotel is well used by car club events. The Metropole was also used on the original Lombard RAC Rallies of the 1970s.
Double/twin rooms are £68 per person per night for a three night stay and £73 per person per night for a two night stay. These rates are inclusive of breakfast and dinner. They have offered us up to 6 single rooms at no supplement, i.e. at the above rates, which is very rare. Also, they have dog friendly rooms at £10 extra per night. They require a £20 per person non-returnable deposit, though your holiday insurance should protect you in the event of enforced late cancellation. For the Gala Dinner on the Saturday evening we will have a private function room with a capacity of 150. Also they will reserve an area of the car park for our cars. You are advised to book early to avoid disappointment and the number to ring is 01597 828539, quoting “MG Car Club”. This is a special number for reservations (Mon-Fri), not the normal hotel number. If you phone at the weekend this number trips through to Reception and there may possibly be a delay in answering.
As usual, we will accept entries from participants who prefer to stay in alternative accommodation. With the private function room having a capacity of 150, participants not staying at the hotel may join us for the Gala Dinner at a cost of £22 per head. Also, as in previous years, participants who would prefer to take part for only one day may choose either the Saturday or Sunday.
The tours will include such superb drives as the spectacular Elan Valley, with its peaceful lakes and mountain backdrops. Many of the B-roads in mid-Wales are perfect for MG motoring and we shall certainly be featuring some of these. More details in the next Newsletter. Next year we also plan to offer a choice of longer and shorter tours, the shorter ones to incorporate attractions such as the possibility of a journey on one of the famous Welsh narrow-gauge steam railways.

When you have booked your room please complete and return the Entry Form by email or post. Please note: those who have booked a room already must still return their entry forms asap.
The entry fee of £10 per car for MG Car Club members and £12.50 for non-members will cover the MSA Permit, detailed road book and other organisational costs. Any admission/parking charges are extra.
