NAMGAR Mourns Fred Skomp
We were saddened to hear from Cindy Skomp that her husband, Fred, passed away at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 30, 2014 after a long battle with cancer. Fred was a true friend of NAMGAR, being the main force behind the Key West British Car Club and its annual gathering in Key West.
As most of you know Fred and Cindy brought the 100,000th MGA back to life after a long period of neglect and completed the car’s restoration in 2004. Since that time Fred and Cindy have taken the 100,000th MGA to various NAMGAR events.
When Fred started not feeling well enough to tour with the MGA, working with NAMGAR and MOSS Motors, the car was taken to the MOSS Motors facility in Richmond, VA for display, where it is kept today. Click here if you would like to read about Fred and the 100,000th MGA’s life together.
While we do not have any particular’s concerning funeral arrangments at this time, Cindy and Rob Camblin spoke and agreed that there will be a wake for Fred during the Key West gathering this April 2014.
If you have photos or memories of Fred that you would like to share, please post them in the comments section of this page or email them to the Editor for inclusion in a future MGA! article.
