60th Anniversary of MGA in Italy

NAMGAR’s Italian correspondent reports that the MG Car Club of Italy celebrated 60 years of the MGA on its stand at the Auto e Moto d’Epoca Show in October in Padova. Five MGA’s were selected for the display to represent each model of MGA, in various colors.

The cars were a 1958 MGA 1500 in Glacier Blue, a 1960 MGA 1600 in Old English White, a 1960 Mineral Blue 1600 MGA Coupe, a 1962 Chariot Red MGA Mk II, and a 1959 Black MGA Twin Cam Le Mans replica.

The four-day “Classic Cars & Motorcycles” Show is one of the most important shows for classic cars in Europe, and has some 80 thousand visitors.

The MGA stand was put together by members of the MG Car Club d’Italia, using period advertisements as the backdrop under the direction of Massimo Bottoli, and Club President Fabio Filippello. Thousands of people enjoyed the MGA display despite the fact that they were surrounded by classic cars worth over a million dollars. The show has been going for over 30 years, and covers an area of 900,000 sq ft (90,000 sq. m).
