Sebring MGA Reunion March 2012
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the last MGA team’s participation in the 1962 Sebring 12 hour race, nine known surviving factory team cars will reunite this spring for a once in a lifetime reunion of these historic MGAs.
Participating cars include a 1957 MGA 1500 Roadster, a 1959 MGA Twin Cam Coupe, the entire 1960 team of three Twin Cam Roadsters, the entire 1961 team of two 1600 MKI Deluxe Coupes, and two surviving 1962 MKII Deluxe Coupes.
Events including these cars will begin at the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance on March 8-11, 2012, where the cars will be featured in a special ex-Sebring Race MGA class. The Amelia Concours is a world-class event with various seminars, auctions, automobilia sales, tours, which culminates in the Concours show on Sunday March 11th.
The cars and owners will then make their way to the Sebring for events surrounding the 12-hour race, March 14-17. One or two of the cars will be on display in the Sebring “Gallery of Legends” display at the track and the remainder of the cars will be pitted together in the paddock. Some of the cars are also scheduled to compete in the SVRA’s historic race at Sebring.
Tickets for both the Amelia Concours d’Elegance and the Sebring 12-hour race can be purchased at the respective websites listed above. Enthusiastic owners will be with the cars at both events and will be delighted to share their car’s histories. Additional information regarding the events will be posted as it becomes available on the NAMGAR website.
