MGA 1600 MKII Coupe
Bernd Eule's 1600 MK II Coupe
This is the MGA 1600 MKII Coupe that is known as the Alamo Beige car in the Clausager Reference Book. Quite an original car, it was purchased by a US pilot apparently living in Britain, very much later sold to a Danish gentleman who then sold it to the photographer Heedegaard that was known to Clausager and hence it landed in the Clausager book as he knew Heedegaard had 2 nice MGA examples. Around 1995 Heedegaard sold it to a German who kept it for another 18 years and now I bought a few weeks ago (this is December 2013).

The car’s name is Arthur as the restoration was like King Arthur pulling the sword from the rock, very difficult. He had always been a California car, but we moved to Tennessee 7 years ago with him. Now he speaks with a southern accent. He has won many Concours prizes. This picture was taken for the AACA as he was nominated for a National Award wich he did not receive.

I am just starting on this restoration project. Twenty six boxes of parts and 15 years of rust and deterioration after being disassembled by the previous owner.

In 2004 I captured this shot of my Mk II coupe in Oley Township, just a few miles from my home.

After I lost my beloved 1960 MGA 1600 Iris Blue Coupe, which my wife and I had driven on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway at INDY ‘96 and which I had cared for for 17 years, I missed her so and regretted that I had sold her to help buy my 1967 Jaguar E-TYPE OTS. I found my MkII in need of care and trust to help her get along in future years. I’ll not let this beauty go until some qualified caretaker must pry her out of my hands as my end is near.
