MGA 1600 MKII Deluxe Roadster
Charles Wiggins' 1962 1600 MKII Deluxe Roadster
My first new MG. I bought this MGA in 1962 after I was aware that the MGB was coming. But I wanted a real sports car…..one with side screens and not roll up windows. I kept it for 12 years and in a moment of weakness I sold it. I have regretted it ever since, so a few years ago I found a nice 1961 to assuage my loss.

This photo of my MkII De-luxe that I have owned since 1978 was taken in Bellevue, WA looking north with Lake Sammamish & the Cascades in the background. This MGA had not been on the road since 1981 and it took me until last year to get around to restoring it.

I just took delivery of my Deluxe. I have 3 weeks to wait until my appointment at the DMV to get it registered. I’ll have to drive it with no tags for awhile!

I always wanted an MGA MKII Deluxe and I finally fulfilled that dream. She drives exceptionally well and will be my retirement restoration project when (or if) I am ever allowed to retire. This photo was taken up at Alice’s on Skyline Blvd in the Bay Area - what better place to go driving an MGA in the California sunshine!

I’ve owned this car since 1978, put it on the road for GT 96 at Indy, did the driveline in 2001, and a body off 2004-2008. It has all matching numbers except for the head. Showing 75,000 original miles which I believe is true, it’s a great driver, very reliable and my interpretation of a “Boy Racer” car. See you at various GT’s.
