The Michigan Chapter was NAMGAR’s first chapter. Our low-key club was formed in 1976, less that a year after the parent organization was founded. We are a MGA only club with 70 plus members, including several original founders. Our Chapter nickname the Rowdies originated from a banquet held at Niagara Falls for GT-4. The nickname continues three decades later although age has tempered some of our rowdier moments. However the club’s spirit for enjoying MGA ownership has never diminished. The Chapter produces a bi-monthly newsletter named A-Antics. This journal of the Michigan Rowdies started its 35th volume in 2010. The club produces a 246 page technical manual dedicated to MGA preservation information. The manual, The Michigan Rowdies Tech Tips, with worldwide sales is now in the fourth printing of its third edition.
We hosted our first national meet, GT-10, in Plymouth, MI. Ten years later, we hosted our second national, GT-20 in Lansing, MI. And true to form, ten years later, in 2005, the Rowdies hosted its third national event, GT-30, in Mackinaw City, MI, and in keeping with tradition the Michigan Chapter hosted NAMGARs GT-40 in Frankenmuth, MI, in 2015. The Chapter holds numerous events throughout Michigan every year. For an events calendar, membership application, and additional info visit our web site at www.mgcars.org.uk/michiganrowdies/index.htm. We invite you to join us at any upcoming event to see what we are about. It’s the cars that get you there, but it’s the people that will keep you coming back!
